The consultant I see is excellent and looks after me very well where, however there is a huge problem with the appointment system and how long you have to wait to be seen.
I had an appointment at the beginning of March and this appointment was cancelled then I got another appointment which was also cancelled then I got one for June. I decided to phone up the clinic to change that appointment to see if I could get one earlier as I should see my consultant every couple of months.....I last saw them in November. When you phone this clinic it can literally take days to get through. It can ring out or sometimes the answer machine is on but it doesn’t allow you to leave a message.
This clinic never runs on time and the minimum waiting time is probably an hour and anything up to 3 hours. It can be very busy and there are not enough chairs. There is no communication on the whiteboard re waiting times. The clinic is hot and there isn’t anywhere to get a cold drink if needed..... I now take my own and a snack because you just can’t judge the waiting time.
There is clearly a lack of resources in this chain and it’s always the topic of conversation for the patients waiting.
Obviously things happen but I’ve attended this clinic for a couple of years and nothing’s changed.
Please be clear that the consultants do a great job but they’re obviously drowning in patients and it needs to be addressed for everyone’s sake.
