"Visibly overworked and under pressure"

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital / General Medicine ( wards G North, G South, J North, J South & L South)

(as the patient),

Was admitted to G South. Staff visibly overworked and under pressure, as a result of such I felt unable to ask for help and advice when required. I found myself googling questions I had instead of asking staff because I didn't want to interrupt when they were clearly busy. Even while checking my blood pressure they were too distracted by other going ons. I don't want to get anyone in trouble as I could see they were all trying their best but as a patient I did not feel safe or looked after.

Dear Grateful complainer

Thank you for taking the trouble to share your concerns. I was particularly disappointed that you felt vulnerable and unable to share your concerns with staff during your recent admission to hospital. Please be assured that this is not the standard of care we strive to deliver and I appreciate that this will have compounded an already stressful situation.

I am genuinely sorry that your impression of our service is such a poor one and would welcome the opportunity to investigate your concerns further. Please feel free to call me on 0141 314 6891 or email me linda.russell2@ggc.scot.nhs.uk.

With best wishes,

Linda
