"A complaint about absent services"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Radiology (X-rays and Scans)

(as a relative),

I took my mother in to Stoke Mandeville hospital for a Dermatology appointment. this was fine & on time, however they wanted a photograph so we went to the Medical Photography department, at about 10am. The sign said that the photographer would be back from their rounds at 10: 30am so we waited. At 11am, with no-one having turned up, I phoned the main reception number to ask what was going on. After a brief wait I was advised that they did not have a photographer in that day. Why hadn't the user department (in this case Dermatology) been advised so they would know not to send people there, and why wasn't there a simple message posted on the Photography department door advising of the situation? I am self-employed and have lost earnings because of this easily avoided situation.

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments on this website.

I am sorry to read of the problems you have experienced in conjunction with your appointment with the Dermatology Department.

I would be very grateful if you could contact the Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on 01296 316042 to talk about your specific experience, and to see how we may be able to assist you at this time.

In the meantime I will share your comments with the Dermatology Team.

Kind regards

Anthony Banton
