"Still lack of compassion for patients with postural vertigo"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics University Hospital Wishaw / X-rays and Scans

(as a relative),

My wife attended her orthopaedic appointment at University Hospital Wishaw. Her consultant was excellent as was the nurse, both full of compassion and professional. However staff at the radiology department don't appear to listen to their patients. What mattered to my wife was that she cannot lie flat because of her vertigo. She was having an x-ray of her right knee as a prelude to a possible knee replacement. Although offered a small pillow, the trauma affected her so much that when she came out of radiology she was in tears. Why can't staff listen. Her consultant later gave her reassurance that he could perform her knee operation with her head elevated.

Dear Basil

I am sorry to hear your wife had this experience whilst a patient in Radiology. Staff should at all times put the patient's needs first and you can be assured I will investigate this matter and speak to the staff concerned

Kind Regards

Claire
