"Labour and postnatal"

About: Liverpool Womens Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I had to be induced on my due date, i was diet controlled GD.

The whole experience from finding out i had GD, to being induced was amazing. Every midwife and professional i met made me feel like i was the only person that mattered.

During being induced and in labour my midwives were incredible.  I wish i could remember there names and thank them personally.

My only concern was postnatal. It was a busy day. 30 babies were apparently born, which i completely understood! However, being on a prenatal ward with ladies going into labour, and my with a crying baby, first time mum, in pain due to stitches was very stressful.

At 1pm i was informed i could go home after 3pm.

I packed my bags, my other half loaded the car and i had a day bag with the stuff we needed in there.

In the end it turned 8pm. Changeover of staff. We had asked too many times to go home. To then be informed the baby doctors had gone at 5. I sat and cried i wanted my family home. The ward was hot.

My other half went to ask again to leave and a professional said "oh here he is again" he felt embarrassed, tired and emotional. He had slept on the floor for a few hours and had been up since wednesday  at 4am it was now 9pm thursday.

In the end i got up myself found another midwife and demanded to cut the tag as i was walking out with my baby. She asked why i was still there and said i should've gone home hours ago.

We came back the next day to see the baby doctor.

If i was offered that earlier i would've been a lot less stressed. Less emotional. I know my baby was fine and had the main checks already and passed them all.

The next day the Doctor was amazing and once again i was happy.
