What I liked
I had my son in the Consultant Led Unit on the evening of Friday 6th April and I was very impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the Midwives who helped to deliver my son. There were 2 midwives who were in the room at all times and they particularly did a fantastic job.
The midwives were calming and made me feel at ease in what was an overwhelming experience for me as a first time mum. They kept myself and my husband up to date on what was happening throughout the experience which I found reassuring.
I was well looked after and they acted upon my requests to keep me comfortable during the experience (i.e. playing music on my ipod etc..).
I can't name the midwives I am referring to in the Consultant Led Unit on this site as per your rules but would be happy to discuss further so this feedback can get to them and they can receive a thank you for doing a great job.
What could be improved
I was on the Dacre ward before my delivery and although the midwives did a great job and were professional and put me at ease, I felt the department was very overstretched and did not have enough midwives on duty.
I was induced and had to ask for painkillers more than once when my contractions started getting stronger and then had to wait a while to receive them as they were busy.
