After the birth of my daughter I really struggled dealing with the overwhelming emotions that come along with being a new mum and went to my GP for help. After my initial review and discussed my current and historic situations, with the help from Joanne we decided that the best type of therapy for me would be ipt.
During this I discovered things from my past where my basic needs were not met and my ability to deal with my emotions and trust people which was now affecting my current day to day life in trying to raise my daughter. This was also affecting my marriage and I was determined not to let my current episode of depression/anxiety get the better of me. I committed to 15 weeks of therapy which included a joint session with my husband. During my therapy we looked at how I deal with different circumstances and engage with people we then explored trying to change these habits to involve my support system and allow myself to be vulnerable.
I feel like I’ve still got some way to go but I feel like I understand myself better and understand how to deal with people better - allow myself to trust people again.
