"Chamberlin Ward is effectively a poorly run prison"

My son was transferred here from Kingsley Green in Radlett in the early hours on the 1st of March 2019.

A week later I am so shocked by the treatment and the so called care provided by Cygnet who I understand are commissioned by the NHS to take in patients for whom no bed is available that I requested the bed Management team at Hertfordshire NHS Trust to move him out of there as due to the noise, chaos and general lack of care provided by some staff was not going to improve his mental health. Some staff were very nice and helpful but seemed to be quite demotivated but the lack of communication from senior staff on the ward and the obvious lack of even an ounce of basic human compassion from senior staff on the ward was shocking to me. Patients roam the small communal area like terrified caged animals. I am appalled by the senior staff' members lack of care and hopefully once my son has been moved from there and both he and I are over the traumatic experience of him being in this zoo like chaotic ward I will be making a formal complaint to the CQC and to my MP. I my opinion, the NHS should seriously consider withdrawing from their commissioning contract with Cygnet who are a private profit making health care company that I believe is owned by some American Company. This is not an NHS hospital and the NHS are paying Cygnet for a substandard commissioned service for the care of extremely vulnerable patients. I will be doing some desktop research to find out more about Cygnet and whether they have a history of poor care services as surprisingly this hospital received an overall good rating by the CQC in January. https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-130486821

I am still to traumatised to go into too much detail about my son's traumatic experience here but once he has recovered a bit, I will be including these details in my complaints. .
