I suffer with secondary progressive MS and severe depression. I was diagnosed in 1999 at which time I lived in Wiltshire and my NHS trust was Wessex. I was treated and looked after by a great team of people whom really cared about patients. In 2016 I moved to the Tayside area and after a few months the caring team I was under GP and Ninewells hospital sorted out my care package.
Several months ago I moved house and tried to join the medical practice in Montrose but due to my address being some 500 yards the wrong side of a postal line Montrose could not accept me so I had to join Inverbervie medical practice. What a difference. And not a good difference. The Medical practice is, I feel, understaffed with regards to doctors and if I want an appointment with my chosen doctor it is normally a 3 week wait. To reorder medication you have to email it to the practice or of course take it into the receptionist at the practice. I can honestly say that out of 10 reorders 6 are not correct and the reasons I have been given is the doctor missed that or can’t understand what happened there. I have been taking MS Medications for 20 years and right up to I started with Grampian each trust followed the previous trusts prescription campaign. But Grampian don’t allow this medication or that medication I am advised by the GP and if I want to continue using things that I have needed for the past 20 years I have to buy them privately.
Thankfully I am able to stay with Ninewells hospital who I can only praise for there care.
