"Cardiac issues - eternally grateful"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Cardiology Crosshouse Hospital / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

The day after Boxing day I felt that I was coming down with a chest infection and following an appointment with my GP I found myself in the ambulatory care unit with a heart rate of 130 bpm+. Spending the next five days in the cardiac wards I received exceptional care and understanding from all the staff. Everyone who had contact with me took the time and effort to ensure that all my questions were answered and all my worries were calmed. On discharge I was fully informed of the next steps and what each of my new medication were going to do.

In March I was in the DCCV pre op and Stuart was fantastic he allayed all my fears and concerns regarding the following days procedure. Yesterday I reported to the day surgery unit and from the outset the team gave an incredibly professional and friendly service. The whole experience was handled with the utmost care and understanding. Again all my questions were answered in a way that I fully understood and the speed of the procedure itself was amazing. No sooner had I answered a couple of questions from the theatre team I found myself in the recovery ward. The first real memory of anything happening was the waking up in the recovery ward being cared for by very professional and friendly people. I am sorry to say that due to the drug I was given I can't remember any names from the unit. I was given reassurance that everything had gone as expected and unbelievably I found that I felt the best I had since the Christmas period. I know I have already spread profuse thanks around the various wards but I would like to put it down in writing that I am eternally grateful for the help the you have all given me.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Dadda64,.

You have had a bit of a time of it. I am glad it has all gone so well and you are feeling so much better.

Thank you for this public 'spreading' of your 'eternal gratitude'. I know it will make a difference to the staff to read your story.

Wishing you all the best of health from now on,

Eunice
