"Learning to open up and talk improved my life"

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as the patient),

7 months ago, I was feeling very low and down. I had no self worth and there were issues in my life I didn’t want to change because I was scared of changed. I was referred to Inclusion Thurrock and I was introduced to a man called Steve

I was very anxious and scared at first and hesitant to open up and be honest, but Steve made me feel very comfortable and I knew I could trust him. We spoke about a lot of personal things and week after week he broke the elements down and he made me feel and see the issues in my head were the way I thought and how to change my thought process. Steve made me see the good in me and spoke to as an adult and did not belittle me or judge me. Steve spoke with care and attention and listened to every word I said, he pointed out the good in me and why I felt like this. Week after week we got deeper and deeper to the root cause.

Fast forward 7 months I feel like a new woman. I honestly can not thank Steve enough for all the help and encouragement he has shown. I know if it was not for Steve, I would not be where I am today, feeling a lot better, confident and ready to tackle what the world has in store for me.

I use to cry a lot at the start of my sessions but towards the end I use to laugh more than cry and now I smile more, and getting out of bed in the morning is no longer a chore.

I wanted to write a brief story of my journey because if you are thinking about talking to someone or scared to do so, I understand how you are feeling but I encourage anyone to do it. You will see the results and it will be the best thing you can do.

My journey with Steve has been such a positive experience and I will be eternally grateful and I feel very privileged to meet and work with Steve.

Dear Positive Journey

Your clear, extremely honest and ultimately positive story is more powerful and influential than anything coming from a mental health professional.

Your description of a journey through treatment and a journey through growth and development is very clear and I know many people will gain confidence from it.

I always thank people for taking the time to write in and share their story but in this case, I would like to give specific thanks for an exceptionally powerful and clear message. I can tell that you are taking your new learning and applying it to your day to day life.

I shall of course share this with Steve and whole the team at Inclusion and on their behalf can I thank you once again for your very kind words,

and wish all the very best for your future.

Many thanks

Paul
