My husband was treated at Huntly GMED Centre where he was seen twice before being admitted to AMIA then subsequently to Ward 111 at ARI - thanks to every member of Staff involved in his care which we sincerely appreciate during a very stressful time for us. He was discharged two days later following decision to switch medication to oral from intravenous .
We were informed at approximately 3pm that we could go home as the medication could take some hours to be ready and that a Volunteer service would deliver this to us at home. We pointed out that we live 40 miles away and that since we were actually there could wait as this was a 2 hour round trip and the weather forecast was not good could wait - the staff member said we could think about and would come back in a few minutes to see what we decided - when we saw no-one for some hours we assumed that they had thought about what we had said and accepted our decision. However after supper we were asked to wait in sitting room as the room needed to be prepared - we were happy to do so to find another patient waiting for letter / medication also - when his was given to him again we assumed husband next - at approximately 630 pm I asked at the Nurses Station for an update as we still had no letter/medication. We left the ward after 7pm eventually with the medication.
We fully are aware about the pressures that Staff and departments are working within as I also work within the Service.
