"unable to exercise whilst waiting for more tests"

About: Horsham Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

After learning to run/jog or whatever u would like to call it I had to rest for several months with a leg injury or so I thought. I eventually saw my doctor who agreed with me that he thought it was compartment syndrome and referred me to a specialist. 4 weeks later I attended the specialist appointment and after a 45 min wait where a registrar turned up an hour late because he "thought the clinic started at 9am"?!

I had a xray and then although he agreed with the diagnosis I would have to be referred for an MRI scan. I received a letter 2 weeks later for an appointment 6 weeks later.

Now I would have assumed that in these days of rising obesity and trying to keep people exercising that is would have been quite important, and apparently the MRI scanner at East Surrey has cut waiting times. Therefore having been 'off the road' for a long time now I can't quite see why an expensive and time consuming MRi scan is necessary, just because that's the procedure, and not content with that I will then have to undergo a pressure test, goodness knows when, so all in all I will have gained 10 pounds and a lot of stress and cost the NHS a lot of money.

Very poor NHS, could do a lot better.
