"It has never been a problem to have a smear here before"

About: General practices in Fife

(as a service user),

As a young woman who has had abnormal smear results for some time now i was told to book 6monthly smears. The problem is for the last 2 months (6-8 weeks or so) I have been unable to get an appointment at my GP surgery for this. Apparently no nurse is able to do this at my practice and it doesn't warrant a GP appointment (as told to me by a receptionist). The same receptionist told me to just go to the sexual health clinic. This is not an option for me. It has never been a problem to have a smear at the surgery before now. The new nurse who is some sort of advanced practice nurse doesn't have the qualifications?. Surely this is a main role of the job? I feel failed by the GP surgery and its staff and will never forgive them if a delay in my smear test turns out to have had any negative impact on my health,  diagnosis or any potential preventative treatment needed.

I was supposed to be called by a manager but surprise surprise it has never materialised.

No wonder the uptake for smears is at an all time low in Scotland.
