On 28 Jan 2019 I landed in Torbay with violent abdominal pain, and I cannot express the relief I felt as the well oiled machine of the hospital system took over.
After copious tests it was revealed that I had a strangulated hiatus hernia and the consultant was on his way in to operate.
I was anaesthetised at 8 pm and the team worked until at least 2 am.
I am one of those people who used to feel uncomfortable in a hospital, but after this experience I am completely cured of it.
I experienced only kindness and consideration in all the staff with whom I dealt, and was genuinely astonished when the consultant described to me what he had done to my insides and how he had done it.
It's a miracle that I'm here to write this.
