"Absolutely shocking appointment waiting times"

Have been made to wait 10 days for an appointment. Turns out I had pneumonia and ended up in hospital.

As a general rule it takes 20+ minutes to get through on phone and no appointments for 10+ days on more than 5 occasions in last 12 months.

We are very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with the level of service you have received and that you have been unwell, resulting in having to go in to hospital.

We are a three site GP practice, and while there are provisions for routine clinics across all three sites each weekday, our on the day service is run at Debenham where a patient will always be seen the same day by either our duty doctor or Advanced Nurse Practitioner should the matter be clinically urgent. We are also able to offer evening and weekend appointments via the local GP+ service, which is provided at several neighbouring practices.

We have a telephone management system which provides regular data with regard to volumes of calls, average waiting times etc. and this is regularly used to ensure we have sufficient staff to cope with average demands. There will be occasions where we are busier than normal, particularly first thing in the morning, so calling at "quieter times" will mean that calls are normally answered more quickly.

Without knowing the full details it is difficult to be able to respond to your specific issues, but if you would like to contact the surgery directly, we would welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss your concerns directly.
