"Reassuring, calm and a definite move forward"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

What I liked

On entering A and E I was seen immeadiately despite the triage process, due to the receptionists understanding of my presenting condition anbd despite this aggrivating another patient who deemed this queue jumping. The triage nurse was quick to assess my condition and move me into resus with out any delay to bedgin treatment. The consultant an dnurses in resus were excellent. Their analysis of my condition was quick and the treatment they priovided was second to none. They were efficient but took time to explain what they were doing.

On moving to MAU the communication between the doctors and nurses continued to be exceptional. Despite being extremely busy and 2am they took the time to explain their ideas for treatment and listened to everything I had to say allowed me time to explain symptoms and concerns.

I was moved promptly to E7 which was very quiet and comfortable. again the staff gave the impression of having unlimited time to discuss concerns, symptoms and medications despite being very busy I am sure. The discharge process was quick and efficient.

What could be improved

One of the murses on MAU was rather to 'tactile' for my own comfort. This may be because they were rushed and wanted to get on to the mext patient but I found it unsettling. All other staff both on this ward and the others were fantastic.

Anything else?

I have, up until recently been under the care of another large hospital for my asthma management but have been disatisifed with the way the staff in charge of my care speak to me in a patronising manner, don't listen to what I am actually saying and appear to have little regard for my opinion in my own care. Having experienced the far superior care here at QA I will be looking to move my inpatient and outpatient treatment ot QA as soon as possible.

Thank you

It was really pleasing to hear that you felt that you were afforded time to explain your symptoms accurately and this continued throughout your stay. And thank you for your comments on the overall quality of care, to be commended as providing a superior quality of care is what we strive for. Whilst we do not wish for you to have to use our hospital due to ill health, we would be delighted to treat and care for you again.
