"treated ok but its long going procedure"

About: Guy's Hospital

What I liked

I did not wait long as I had an appointment for oral for wisdom tooth pain. as referred by my dentist. The dentist I saw took half hour going over stuff with me about the pain and treatment and risks involved of removal of tooth as near to nerve and compacted.

What could be improved

I did not like the fact that the equipment that you spit into after rinsing mouth was not connected. After he removed the plastic thing from my mouth to take an impression I had bits in my mouth and wanted to spit it out, and he said I would have to swallow it as nothing connected, so I gave him a quick choice of being sick over him or spitting it down the wash sink, I found this really poor as a patient certainly does not want to swallow the bits left in their mouth after. Why wasnt the equipment connected up properly.

Anything else?

Before removal of wisdom tooth he has given me other options to try first, which I was rather disappointed with as I said to him, this is going to take forever, the 3D scan is an 8wk wait for a start, and I am hurting now in my jaw. The normal Xray he said does not show where about the nerve is. He wasnt sure if it was my wisdom tooth or a leaky filling which I found strange. so he advise me to do hot and cold compress for a wk, then go back my dentist and have back tooth refilled, if still pain then its the wisdom tooth, he also warned me of the numbness of lower lip of removal of it as being so near to the nerves. I thought they was just going to make me an appointment to remove the thing. Not have all this. He said if they removed wisdom and then I still had pain and it was a leaky filling it mean I would have gone thru the op for nothing. I am disappointed to be honest but also understand the other side of them being cautious as well to make sure. This in all could take months the way its going.
