"good care but long wait for pain relief from paramedics"

About: Calderdale Royal Hospital / Accident and emergency Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust

(as a relative),

On Sunday we sent for an ambulance for my wife and she was taken to Calderdale Royal. We were impressed and pleased with the process.

The ambulance staff, A&E, the nurses and the doctors were excellent, we were really pleased.

I just wanted to drop a thought into your box, when the first set of paramedics arrived my wife was in too much pain to move. However, neither of them were allowed to administer entonox despite admitting they had been trained to do so.

We had to wait an hour for another paramedic to come and administer the entonox so she could be put in the ambulance.

It seemed to me that on a busy day, it was a bit of a waste to have two paramedics waiting around for over an hour until someone else arrived to give my wife the pain relief she needed.
