"Waste of time and resources"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Accident & emergency Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service Stirling Care Village / Minor injuries unit

(as the patient),

I went to Stirling Community Hospital to see if I had concussion, Ended up being told I didn't have concussion however my blood pressure was too low and I was to stay and speak to a GP. The GP told me my blood pressure was fine but because I had fainted in the morning before seeing them, they couldn't let me go home and I had to go sit in the waiting room for further instruction. The GP came through 20 minutes later asking if me and my friend had transport to Forth Valley Royal Hospital or did we need an ambulance. When we said we needed an ambulance the response I received I felt was awfully rude. When they came back another 30 minutes later to say the ambulance will be here for us soon and we asked how long it would be they rolled their eyes turned and walked away and shouted back to us how long is a piece of string  while shrugging their shoulders.

When the ambulance arrived an hour later they had been told that I had been fainting all day and couldn't stand up and were surprised when I was walking and fully able. When we arrived in Forth Valley Royal Hospital they took blood and wasn't sure why I was there, however I still had bloods taken and waited 4 hours to be seen all to be told take it easy, the MILD CONCUSSION will wear off in a few days. Yes, the concussion I had previously been told that I didn't have. When I was told I can go home it was 1 am we were a half hours drive away from where we live with no money and no way home. The hospital ordered us a taxi and paid for it which was extremely helpful.

I feel this entire ordeal was caused by the GP who spoke to me and wasted our time (we had been waiting around in both places for a total time of 8 hours), we had no food and we were starving,  we had no idea what was going on and wasted NHS time and resources that could've been put to better use.

Dear Lynxsf58,

I am sorry to hear you have had such a bad experience, This is not what we aim to achieve in MIU or the Emergency department.

As I am not entirely clear who you saw in Stirling community this makes it difficult for me to comment specifically. I am sorry you were unhappy with your experience within the Emergency department but reassured that staff were able to support you getting home.

I do hope you are now on the mend.

Dear Lynxsf58,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback on CareOpinion. I am so sorry that you have had such a poor ordeal. It sounds like you have had a really poor time of it. I am glad however that you feel that the paramedics were good. I hope that you are on the road to a full recovery.

I am sure that someone will be in contact from the community soon to answer your questions.

Alan
