I was recently unfortunate enough to attempt to register as a temporary patient at this practice. With the exception of one member of the reception staff the attitude was appalling in fact one member of staff was borderline aggressive. My request to this practice regarding healthcare was far from straight forward as I am a British Citizen who lives in Spain but their incompetence and lack of knowledge was astounding. My enquiries were ultimately, allegedly dealt with by the practice manager and the result was a phone call from a receptionist to tell me I was not entitled to register as a temporary patient or access elective healthcare despite being in possession of a document from the DWP that states the polar opposite ,in plain English. I have subsequently become a Temporary patient at Clayton Medical Practice who miraculously gave me an appointment with a GP , organised an X ray and a referral to a Consultant. Throughout this process I have be treated courteously and with understanding and professionalism. The staff at Clayton Medical Practice have been prepared to make enquiries and indeed learn from my situation which as previously stated is not straightforward. The Reception staff would benefit from some education in how to speak to the public and indeed how to learn from different situations that are not the norm.

I appreciate dealing with the Public can be trying and challenging as I am a retired health professional with 35 years experience of doing just that but if you cannot at least be courteous maybe it's time to have a career change and leave the job to someone who can !.
