I was admitted to A&E by ambulance in september 2018 with sepsis caused by an abscess in my fallopian tube.
Ambulance staff were great, at first they were dubious about taking me in but after further discussion about my symptoms they decided to take me.
A&E was busy but staff seemed to be coping very well. I deteriorated quite fast so once the sepsis was confirmed treatment started fairly rapidly. The only thing i wasnt happy with at this point was that the consultants didn't believe me when i said i needed an ultra sound. I have severe stage 4 endometriosis and a frozen pelvis and i knew this was where the infection was coming from because of the pain i was experiencing. They were insisting it was due to a UTI.
It took 8 hours for me to be admitted to a ward. Again through no fault of the staff who were all very pleasant and helpful while myself and my husband were waiting.
The next day an ultra sound was arranged which confirmed a huge abscess in my fallopian tube.
I was treated with strong antibiotics for 5 days but then had to have emergency surgery to remove the infection. Again all staff were extremely comforting during this time.
Wards were clean and staff were always accommodating and mostly friendly.
I am grateful for the attention and care i received from all of the staff in A&E and on the gynaecology department last year, it was quite a tough time for myself and my family.
Thank you.
