"Waiting for treatment"

About: Birmingham Midland Eye Centre (Bmec)

I have been attending the hospital for about a year. I had to wait nearly 12 months to actually see a consultant. When I did I was told that I was suitable for an operation which would take place in March and even signed the paperwork. I have since been told by the appointments team that there is no possibility of this happening and no indication of when an operation might take place. I have managed to speak to the consultant’s secretary, but the consultant has not returned any calls. Consequently I am completely in the dark left with the impression of an organisation that is not communicating with its patients in a professional manner.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am very sorry for the delay you have faced when waiting to see one of our consultants. This delay and the fact that you have not been fully informed about your operation are both matters we take very seriously.

Would you be able to email the Communications team at swbh.comms@nhs.net with details of the department where you were treated please, so that we can look into this matter further? Kind regards, Toby Lewis, Chief Executive
