My story begins in mid February in the early hours. My Husband rang the 111 number as I was in so much pain, a very helpful person on the phone, who advised me that I would get a call back and take some pain killers to ease the pain.I received a call from out of hours Doctor at the William Harvey in Kent, he asked if my Husband could get me up to the Hospital by 6 am. When I arrived the Doctor asked for a water sample and thought I had a Water Infection but could be Kidney Stones, he gave me some medication to take and I returned home. During the day it did seem to ease a little, but again early on the next day I was woken in awful pain, but this time being very sick. My Husband phoned the 111 number and in turn I was told a Doctor would call back. I received the call and the GP advised my Husband to take me straight up to the Hospital. When I arrived at the William Harvey I was seen by a Doctor who gave me some strong pain relief, along with other test, A CT Scan showed I had Kidney Stones with rather a large one close to my right Kidney. The Doctor arranged for me to be taken to the KCC in Canterbury by Ambulance. The Care and attention at the William Harvey was exceptional from the time I arrived till the time I was taken to the KCC.
On arrival at the KCC again the care and attention from every single level was exceptional, although the Consultant couldn't remove the stone when she operated, I have a Stent to help drain the Stone, I am on her list in a couple of weeks for her to try another plan. I do feel there are so many bad reports that you hear where the NHS is concerned, but speaking as I have found my treatment has been outstanding from bottom to the very top.
