(as a parent/guardian),

My son was admitted to A& E at the Victoria hospital in Kirkcaldy in February seriously ill. He has type 1 diabetes and was admitted in DKA. Shortly after he arrived in A& E he had a cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated and spent a week in ICU and 4 more days in a medical ward. We are very grateful to all the staff involved in his care from the paramedics who had the skill to realise how sick he was to the A& E staff, ICU staff, ward staff, diabetes team and physiotherapy staff. Special thanks to the A& E doctor Emma and ICU nurses Collette an Donna

Dear Craig70,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post on Care Opinion about your sons care.

The experience you, your son and your family have been through is thoroughly harrowing. Resuscitation and a time spent in ICU can be traumatic for all. I am so glad to hear he is now recovering and hope you are too.

I would like to thank you also, for taking the time to mention the many teams involved in his care in such a positive light. I will pass on your kind comments to the wider ICU team and your special thanks to Donna.
