"Duty of care ignored"

About: Priory Surgery

Following hip replacement surgery asked for a Dr to visit as concerned about wound - told would only get a phone call later that day.

No one called so around 2pm tried to find out when call would be made - shut for training and was not advised of this in earlier call!

Dr actually turned up 16.40 - advised he would arrange for a nurse to call next day and change dressing as well as take a blood test - didn't show up until 2 days later and only for blood test.

Possible infected surgical wound left unchecked.

Reception staff and pharmacist now think they have medical knowledge and refuse to arrange appointments or repeat prescriptions.

There is no email address on the website to send complaints to.

Have used this surgery for over 40 years but am now looking to change to one where respect and manners exist.

Thank you for your comments.

I am sorry that the Doctor did not call you and instead visited you at home. On a day when we shut in the afternoon for training, we are generally quite pressured in the morning. The GP would have decided to visit you at home to be able to check your condition -I am sorry that they did not telephone first. On arrival back at the surgery, the GP made the referral to the district nurses on the same day. I am sorry that the District nurses did not attend as per our request on the referral to them. Unfortunately we do not have control over how the District nursing service operates as they are a separate service. We did follow up your concerns with them directly.
