I was taken in to Ward 7 in early February with suspected inflammation of the bowel. After a couple of days observation I was taken to theatre and had my lower bowel removed along with my appendix. This was a life saving operation due a puss build up which was infecting my bladder and lower bowel and the appendix. I only found out how ill I was once I was in ITU. It was at this stage I received the most professional care and attention from all present.
I was scared out of my depth and helpless. I was in the care of a great team of professionals but I must single out my nurse Andrew for special praise because when I was at my lowest ebb and about ready to give up on life he encouraged me to just give it a bit more, and this scribble is proof I found enough left to do it. The recovery in ward 7 was again provided by a great team and I thank all involved for their attention to their work.
There is a lot wrong with the NHS structure but all the staff I encountered worked well beyond what one would reasonably expect.
