"Heart attack cardiac arrest"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Cardiology & Coronary Care Unit Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

Recently my father had a heart attack at home he was given immediate care by an ambulance crew from Kirkcaldy who were just amazing he went on to have a cardiac arrest en route to edinburgh r i  and they battled for 20mins to bring dad back to us .

We as a family would like to thank them from the bottom of our hearts for bringing this wonderful man back from the brink .

Furthermore the care he and we received from wards 116,114and 103 cardiology at Edinburgh Royal was quite simply outstanding the teams were with us every step of the way Particular mention to Thomas on that first night when we were in absolute despair  he reassured us in a calm ,honest manner also to Laura who spoke with us on the phone and got dad through those early days and every other nurse and staff member who supported him until he was transferred to Kirkcaldy .

Dad has a long road to recovery but he is home now and we wanted you to know you all have made such a difference to us and him please keep up the fantastic work you do knowing you are making a difference to families and patients every day you put on that uniform x

Dear Idone,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback on CareOpinion. Your story is making me emotional. What a terrifying time that must have been for your family. I couldn't imagine what you, your family, and of course your father have been through over the last wee while.

I am however very pleased to read about the care you received from our crew and subsequently the staff of NHS Lothian. I am proud to wear my uniform today knowing that my colleagues are out there making a difference as in this case. As a paramedic myself I can only imagine how hard they battled, as you so accurately put it. And kudos to them for persevering. I am glad that the Service was able to make a difference.

I would be very grateful if I could pass on your comments to the crew and the crews manager. I am sure that they would be over the moon to hear about your father returning home to you all. If you could, would you be able to email me at alan.martin2@nhs.net and provide me with some details to allow me to locate the job and the crew. I will need the date, time and address that the vehicle attended as well as your fathers name. It would also be helpful if you mentioned your Care Opinion username to allow me to link the email to this.

I wish your father a smooth and full recovery and I also wish you and your family all the very best.

Thanks Again

Alan

Dear Idone

Thank you very much for sharing your feedback with us following your dad's experiences whilst in the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. I can't imagine what a difficult and anxious time this has been for everyone especially your dad.

I was pleased to read how everyone including the ambulance services have worked together so that your dad could get to the hospital in what was such a challenging situation.

I was especially pleased to read that your dad is now at home and I hope he continues to make good progress.

I have shared your lovely feedback with the team and please wish you dad well with his continued recovery.

Best wishes

Jeannette
