"The consultant is a legend!"

About: Mount Vernon Hospital Site

I was really worried about having my partial knee replacement as I know it is much more complicated than a total knee replacement and not all orthopaedic surgeons are able to undertake them. Results seem not to be as good as with total replacements.

Pre-op, the consultant asked me to try and build up the muscles in the leg as the results would be better post-op.

I made the consultant promise that if I needed a total replacement he would do that rather than a partial. He waited until I came round from the anaesthetic to let me know that he felt the partial was the right operation.

At follow up he encouraged me to try to stop using the crutches as soon as possible - he was so right that I am entrusting my other knee to him very soon!

Physiotherapy was equally encouraging as was OT. I cannot speak for Hillingdon as I had my operation at Mount Vernon Hospital.

Thank you everyone that was involved in my care.
