"Medical staff are great, Reception staff awful"

About: Westongrove Partnership

I have been at this practice for many years and the medical staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and I've always received respectful treatment.

However, the reception staff at Wendover Health Centre are another matter.

Although some of the reception team are friendly and helpful, there are a couple of members who seem to make a point of being as rude, dismissive, obtrusive and as unhelpful as possible.

I have on numerous occasions been given incorrect information by reception staff, I have been refused duty doctors appointments, I have been told that it is not possible to book an appointment with my named GP only to then find I can book an appointment with that GP online, reception staff have refused to pass messages on to medical staff and refused to help with medication queries.

I would say that 90% of the time the reception staff are unable or unwilling to help with questions and have rude and abrasive attitudes. I have often felt quite upset after talking to the reception staff due to their attitudes and inappropriate behaviour.

They seem to forget that their job is to help people access healthcare not make it more difficult and stressful than it often already is.

If there was a closer surgery to me that I could get to I would change because of this.

Thank you for taking the time to add your comments- it would greatly help us if you could contact the practice at the time when you experience an issue or problem - this way we can investigate the issues that you are experiencing and discuss them with the staff involved in order to provide the best possible care for our patients
