I can't say I am particularly happy at all. I have kidney failure and my contact at all regarding my condition. I have no partner, no family and my two minute consultation every few months is the only time I have the opportunity to address my health issues with anyone.
Yet I find the nephrologist a sarcastic unpleasant individual who appears to have little or no interest in his patients, just there to collect his inflated salary. I find his demeanour so offensive I feel unable, if time allowed, to discuss anything about my illness. He also has this habit of treating me as if I had an IQ of 50 and not in a position to grasp the complexities of my illness.
I have to say in all honesty feel my consultant appointments the most depressing and the worst aspect of my illness.
Another complaint. I was left a message on my answer phone to call the renal department. When I did, a woman on the other end of the phone was adamant nobody called me as the phone hadn't been used in two days, yet I responded immediately to the message left moments before. Furthermore, there was nobody in the department to answer my query for at least another two days, so I gave up.
I just hope they get back to me whenever they return to the unit?
