"This surgury is a discrace."

About: North Harbour Medical Group

The staff I have had interactions with have been rude and dismissive. I asked reception to help with giving my 1 year old an inhaler as she was very wheezy and breathless to be told that there was no one to help (just required someone to hold the child) I then asked a nurse to assist and she replied with “I’m not an asthma nurse” and proceeded to half heartedly assist me and then told me “to sit and calm her down” after my child resisted in having her inhaler. This, to me, was not acceptable from a registered nurse, despite her not being a specialist in Asthma, she should have had the knowledge to assist a struggling mother give a child medical treatment for a potentially life threading illness.

The practice manager called me a day later after I raised concerned and spoke to me in a rude and abrupt manor. I explained the above and she told me that the nurse saw my child after playing and thought that she did not require any further assistance. I informed the practice manager that if the nurse had actually bothered to speak to me or even ask any question that I would have informed her that my child will continue to play despite being wheezy and short of breath.

I simply cannot understand how people working within a health care setting can be so unprofessional, lack care and compassion to those in need of help.
