"Recent procedure and overnight stay"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Urology (Ward 6)

(as a service user),

I was very nervous before I went to Monklands. I arrived on a friday morning in the assessment unit before you go through and wait it the recovery suite. Anne the sister made me feel so welcome, she was fantastic, informative and sympathetic to what I was having done.

I sat in the recovery suite and all the staff again were so professional and helpful.I was taken through to the theatre by the scrub nurses I think, they were so calming and funny as well as professional. The head anaesthetic doctor and his junior were so good and patient. a great start all in all for my procedure.

Post operation I was moved to ward 6. The staff were all brilliant, helpful and enjoyed a bit of banter. As a former Nurse of 38 years I saw how hard these poor souls worked day and night shifts, relentless but still had a smile on their faces. The Phlebotomist, cleaner, Medical staff were very professional, sympathetic and at times humorous.

I never had any issues with pain control (perhaps I was lucky) and my stay helped dispel the so called Myth about Monklands Hospital. On this occasion I would give Monklands 100% for everything they did.

Hello Lynn

It was Urology and I was under the care of Mr Nalagatla and his team, Anasthetic Consultant Dr James and all the theatre team that day. Including pre and post Op staff in the recovery suite and subsequently in ward 6.

Thank You

Oh dear! I am sorry, confusing things even further! Initially we'd thought your story was about general surgery, so we posted it on the website and emailed it off for the attention of that team. Thankfully you let us know that your story was actually about urology so we made the necessary amendments. All is grand now!

Hope you're doing ok.

Gina
