My mother had a diagnosis of COPD. Towards the end of December 2018 her condition deteriorated significantly. I contacted NHS 24 and following discussion with staff an emergency ambulance arrived and my mum was taken to A& E at university hospital Wishaw. My mum was assessed and treated in resus and subsequently transferred to the high dependency ward. Sadly my mum's health continued to deteriorate and she passed away in the early hours, three days later. During her time in hospital the care she received was excellent. Staff in both departments treated my mum and us her family with the utmost dignity and respect. My mum had a peaceful and dignified death. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff in these departments. I know you couldn't be with your own families during the festivities but I will always be grateful you were with mine.
