I found a small spot on the side of my nose near my eye, after 7 weeks I saw my GP as the spot wasn't going away. My GP referred me to the plastic surgeons at DRI. I didn't wait long for my appointment and was seen by a truly lovely Consultant, he was very friendly, approachable and professional, wish all Consultants had the same approach. After a very thorough examination we then discussed the way forward with treatment, I was involved in all the decision making, everything was explained in detail and I was asked repeatedly if I understood all the options, I felt involved which can only be a good thing. Eventually myself and the Consultant decided the least invasive option, a punch biopsy, was the way to go.
Plastic surgery procedures are carried out at the Northern General in Sheffield, apart from it being a long day (taxis and trains ) the procedure itself was straight forward with just a couple of stitches involved. The Day Surgery Unit at the Northern General is just wonderful, the staff, from the Consultant all the way through to the lady on the front desk were fab and so very caring and kind. My Daughter and I were very impressed with this unit, we hardly waited any time to get into the changing cubicle then into theatre and yes I was shocked as well that biopsies are actually performed in theatre. We were so impressed we left feedback there too.
Fast forward a few weeks and I was again seen at DRI re my results, again I saw the lovely Consultant and all treatment options thoroughly explored, explained and left for me to decide the best way to go. I have absolutely no complaints about the Plastic Surgery clinic at DRI, 5 stars all the way for me,
