"Colonoscopy & IBD team"

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital

On the day of my colonoscopy, I was very nervous and dreading having it done. When I arrived at the endoscopy department I did not have to wait long until I was called through. I have very poor venous access and it took some time to fit a cannula, however the nurses were great and tried to put me at ease and did their best. While having the colonoscopy procedure, my heart rate elevated to 160 bpm and I found it extemely uncomfortable as the sedation did not work but I can honestly say two certain nurses were the nicest people I have ever met and they really helped to calm me by talking to me and holding my hand. When in recovery I met two IBD nurses and they were absolutely lovely and lightenened up my mood. My consultant is brilliant also. The endoscopy/colonoscopy nurses and IBD nurses are exactly what nurses should be, caring. I would give the endoscopy department over 5* if I could. The best service I could of asked for and more.

Dear Ms Richards,

We are very pleased to hear that your experience was made a positive one, thank you for taking the time to feed back. We will make sure that your comments reach the endoscopy team, who I am sure will appreciate them.

Best wishes,

The Patient Experience Team
