"First Hospital Stay"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I'd been referred for an MRI for back pain by my GP but before it came through my back went through the night and I couldn't walk. The ambulance paramedics were amazing, friendly patient and very personable. They provided excellent service.

I was taken to Wishaw General. A&E was different.... The nurses were lovely but when I was explaining to the doctor  I wasn't able to walk, they asked me what I expected them to do about it?

I was transferred to Ward and I can't say enough good things about the nurses in ward 15. I was there for three days and spent my last day in ward 14. These nurses have been so attentive, friendly, professional, personable and provided a 5 star experience, and completely excelled expectations from what I believed a hospital stay would be like.

I'd really like the nurses in ward 15 and 14 that were working on those dates to get some recognition for the excellent hard work they do.

Dear papaxd74,

Many thanks for taking the time to post your experience during your visit to the ED and also ward 14 and ward 15.

I would like to respond to you in terms of the ED feedback. Firstly thank you for your kind words in respect to the nurses and I would apologise that you found one of he Drs attitude not so person centred or professional.

I will ensure you positive feedback is given to the nursing staff. It would be helpful if you could contact the patient affairs manager with further details so that we may provide you with a targeted response regarding the Dr and the way that they made you feel.

The patient affairs contact details are by e mail yvonne.ross@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk or telephone 01698 366558.

I hope that you are feeling much better.

Best wishes

Andy

Dear papaxd74,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback on Care Opinion. Back pain can be extremely debilitating and you can feel helpless. I am so sorry to read that you had that experience.

I am pleased to read however that your experience with our crew was 'excellent'. It is always nice to hear positive comments about the work that our crews deliver.

I hope that you are now on the road to a full recovery and I wish you all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan
