"Very happy after a previous traumatic experience"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

Following a previous traumatic birth at RPH many years ago I was immensely worried about what my experience would be like the second time round. I was under the care of the consultant and voiced my concerns to him early on. The consultant listened to my worries and reassured me that I would receive the pain relief if and when required this time and was both informative and empathetic when discussing my options. On the actual day I am extremely pleased to report that the birth was such a positive one thanks to the caring and professional conduct of the midwifery team and I now relish my memories of my son’s birth rather than recoil in horror as was the case with my first experience. From start to finish I felt valued as a service user, a mother to be and fellow human being and it has to be said that bedside manner goes a long way as the team were all friendly and understanding. Thank you RPH.

This is a delight, thank you for taking a moment to share this with us because it means that we get to not only pass it on to our colleagues in Maternity services, but also we have the chance to celebrate such a wonderful example of excellent care with compassion.

We will pass this on to the Maternity team who will be very touched.
