"Medical certificate for my dead father!!!"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

My father passed away at the start of this week in Milton ward he was palliative care /end of life !

Why hasn't one of the Doctors of "The Team " got and signed the Medical certificate ?? It's now Thursday 14th February !!! No post mortem to be had . I'm now becoming very suspicious as to why it's taking to long !! Not sure what to put as cause of death mmm?? Or what? Advice needed, before third party advice please.

Thank you for your comments and may we take this opportunity to extend to you our sincerest condolences at this very sad time.

National legislation suggests that a timeframe of 5 days to complete medical certificates is acceptable and the Trust always strives to achieve this standard. That said, we do recognise that family's like to be in receipt of the paperwork as soon as possible to be able to register their loved ones death and make funeral or cremation plans so there is work underway in the Trust at the present time to make this process as swift as possible.

For your family's case please contact our PALS Team on 01634 825004 or medwayft.pals@nhs.net and they will be more than happy to try and assist.

kindest regards,

The Patient Experience Team
