"I had a mini stroke."

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Stroke Care Scottish Ambulance Service University Hospital Ayr / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

I was taken to Ayr A&E by my husband after he found I was unable to speak. They transferred me to Crosshouse by Ambulance with two friendly attendants. I was seen right away.  Bed organised in 3E.  Kirsty was there to help me adjust to hospital and looked after me during the night.  Heather and Brian were there in the morning to wake us up and see to our needs. I had tests done and was ferried about by very polite porters. Later the consultant discharged me.  The meals were all very good.  I had a mini stroke.

Big thank you to Ayr A&E, Ambulance service, Porters in Crosshouse, Station 3E - all staff there.  Kirsty, Heather and Brian especially.

Dear victoryb93,

What a frightening experience for you being unable to speak. It is great to hear that you found your care good and that Kirsty supported you during you admission at night and then Heather and Brian. The first 24 hours there are so many investigations and monitoring. It is great to hear that you were well looked after.

We are fortunate to have excellent catering and portering department who play a key part in patient care. Thanks for taking the time to post your comments and I will ensure these are shared with the staff.

Best wishes for your recovery,

Christine

Dear Victoryb93

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to hear that you had a mini stroke. That must have been terrifying for you and your husband. I have attended many patents as a paramedic that have had mini-strokes and the symptoms are very scary.

I am however extremely pleased to read the wonderful comments that you have wrote about all the staff that looked after you. It is clear in this instance that the our crew, and the staff of our partners in NHS Ayrshire and Arran have looked after you with the professionalism and care we would expect.

I do hope that you are on the road to a full recovery and I wish you and your husband all the very best.

Kind Regards

Alan
