"Thankyou for my Grans care"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Cardiology Royal Alexandra Hospital / Critical Care Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Medicine (wards 8, 10, 11, 14, 18 & 27)

(as a relative),

Recently my Gran took unwell at home, had a home visit from the GP and an ambulance had to be called for, she was very, very unwell and the paramedics took her to the resus department at A&E in Royal Alexandra hospital Paisley.

After a short wait the Consultant Dr Bonagle came and explained very clearly, honestly and professionally the things that was wrong with My Gran so we were able to understand, he explained it with so much empathy and really showed he cared how we as a family felt.

We were then allowed in to see my Gran and we were met with such a lovely Nurse called Gemma and another Dr which I apologise cant remember her name, they were both very comforting to my Gran who had very proudly boasted to have nearly 60 grandchildren and it was clearly seen that my gran felt and looked at ease with them, she was very chatty at that point and was her chirpy cheeky self with both staff, my cousin and I,  we then left to let her two daughters in to see her they had seen how busy the nurse was and how tired my gran was so decided to wait in the relatives room to allow my Gran to have a rest, Dr Bonagle then came and explained again with so much empathy and kindness some findings of my grans results.

A short while after my grans heart stopped suddenly and after trying so hard unfortunately they couldn't bring her back to us.

The team was absoultey amazing Dr Bonagle came back to the room and explained every detail that we wanted to know, all the whys? and How's? Very clearly.

We are such a big big loving family, my Gran had seen 5 generations and very very proudly always spoke of each one of us and never ever missed any of us, her wee house was always full every day and evening! And she loved it! She was an amazing lady and was treated with the up most respect by all the staff even in other recent admissions to wards in the last 18 months to CCU, ward 8 and ward 18 in the hospital the staff got to know the family and my Gran and were always very very helpful and kind even though most days they were short staffed and run of there feet nothing was ever a bother to them.

That evening in the resus department it did not matter at all that all the family came at one point to say their goodbyes to my gran even though there was so so many of us, I am and will be eternally grateful and thankful for such kindness to these people who are absouloute assets to their profession for looking after my Gran...... THANKYOU
