About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital

Whilst accompanying my husband to an outpatients appointment I collapsed and was taken to A&E. I cannot praise the staff highly enough, they were obviously extremely busy but the care, patience and compassion I received was second to none. The only downside was that I was kept in overnight and had a lengthy wait on a bed in a corridor before there was a bed available in the ward.

This has nothing to do with the staff and everything to do with lack of investment in our wonderful NHS. When you witness first hand the pressure everyone is working under you realise what truly dedicated and wonderful people work at Blackpool Victoria.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry to hear you were taken poorly when visiting our hospital and I hope you are feeling better now.

Our staff in the Emergency Department will be delighted to read about your positive experience of their services. The department is under significant pressure at the moment with high numbers of patients attendances and unfortunately some of our patients may have to wait on the corridor before they are transferred to a ward.

I’m pleased that you felt supported through this delay and I wanted to let you know there are plans for a new Emergency Village to be created at Blackpool Victoria Hospital to increase the size of the department, which should prevent having to wait in our corridor.
