"A stressful experience in 2 concurrent visits"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

I am a frequent visitor to A&E due to having terminally ill parents. With every visit there is a visible decline in service provision. My last visit to A&E in January has left me with such a negative experience that I will be asking for a transfer telsewhere if my hysterectomy surgery is to go ahead.

A&E staff completely dismissed my request to look into my mum’s medication as her sudden decline in health was after her visit to her consultant who increased her dosage. I had to push to be heard at Orpington hospital following my mum’s transfer. Even that was ignored. It was when she was moved to Queen Mary’s Sidcup that a consultant reviewed her medications. This is after 3 weeks of hallucinating, confusion and memory loss. I pray no one goes through this especially when consultants think it’s their God given right to talk down to non clinicians.

I was sorry to read about the experience you have had with your mother's care at both PRUH A&E and at Orpington.

If you would like to talk through the issues that you have raised, I'd be very happy to put you in touch with a member of staff.
