I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks. From entering Rubislaw we were treated with kindness and compassion. We visited on the first day and then again a few days later for surgery.
I had surgical management of miscarriage and when we returned to the ward for the surgery, every member of staff we came across from student to consultant was kind and their sympathy for our situation seemed absolutely genuine and heartfelt.
Nobody would ever wish to be in Rubislaw ward but the team that were involved that day couldn’t have helped us more. The people who work on this ward day in day out are very special indeed. They see the worst of situations and still manage to provide comfort to couples at the time they need it most.
The doctor in theatre held my hand as I drifted off to sleep and her compassion that day will always be so appreciated on what was an emotional and extremely difficult time.
Sadly we’ve used the services of Rubislaw ward on more than one occasion over the last few years but we have always been comforted by the care and attention provided by the wonderful team working there.
"We were treated with kindness and compassion."
