I presented myself at Grantham A&E on a Sunday morning and was seen and treated quickly. The doctor involved prescribed some antibiotics (which I pay for) and said I should also go to Lincoln County that afternoon to see the on-call urologist and to have an ultrasound. I drove to Lincoln where I was informed that the ultrasound clinic does not operate on Sundays. Eventually I was seen by the urologist who concurred with the diagnosis given by the doctor at Grantham. However, he too attempted to get me in for an ultrasound, obviously unaware of the lack of ultrasound clinics on Sundays. After finding out what I had already learned, he stated that I'd have to attend the next day. He also prescribed a different antibiotic - for which, of course, I would have to pay for.
I drove to Lincoln on the Monday and went to the ultrasound department where I was informed that I had been booked in for an ultrasound examination at Grantham! They carried out the examination at Lincoln and contacted Grantham to cancel my visit there. In short, I had two unnecessary trips to Lincoln and a prescription too many through lack of communication and knowledge.
