"Emergency Admissiom"

About: Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust

i Was taken to Epsom Hospital by ambulance on Wednesday 30th in the evening.

I had a fever and breathing difficulties.

I was taken into the resus unit where I was treated immediatelly.

Once I was stable I was told there were no beds available and that i would spend the night on the trolly.

It was a long night but the care I received from the staff was amazing.

They were doing the best they could in the circumstances.

In the morning I was moved to The Hub, holding area to wait for a bed.

I was moved onto a more comfortable trolly with a mattress and pillow!!

It was another 12 hours before a bed became available in Swift Ward and I was finally moved.

But again the standard of care I received in The Hub from the staff was so caring.

I had pneumonia, I felt really ill, I was worried about the bed situation.

I spent 4 days on the ward and I am now home.

I just want to say Thank You for the amazing care I received from when I arrived until i returned home. The NHS at its best.

Hello,

Thank you for your kind words, we are pleased to hear that you are happy with the standard of care you received from us.

However, we are sorry to hear that your stay with us could have been more comfortable. Unfortunately our hospitals are very busy at this time and bed spaces are very limited, but if you do think we could be doing something better, please contact PALS, our patient advisory and liaison service - https://epsom-sthelier.nhs.uk/pals
