"Diabetic Nurse - (29 January 2919)"

About: Dr Gs Kalkat's Practice

I had a yearly check up today on my diabetic condition and saw the Diabetic Nurse. The appointment was for 4.30pm and the buzzer with my name was called at 4.30pm (brilliant).

The Diabetic Nurse was very calm, attentive, caring, professional and not in a hurry to whizz me out like some surgeries ie, Thamesview Dentist. The nurse explained what my blood tests results meant and was very encouraging on looking at ways to reduce my blood sugar levels which were slightly high. I am fortunate I have lost 1kg in weight and my cholesterol levels were 3.8 due to cutting out rice dramatically from my diet to once a week and smaller portions, I also take apple cider vinegar before each meal which has made a difference in my weight in the course of last 12 months.

The nurse checked my blood pressure levels and feet and confirmed I need to put more cream on my feet as everything else was good. She was also kind enough to enquire if my flu jab was up to date and was more than happy to provide the flu jab there and then. Luckily my firm provide this every year but I was appreciative she asked.

The nurse also mentioned there was an vaccination available to me which would protect me against pneumonia and 22 other possible strains etc.

I can’t put into words how I felt after visiting the Diabetic Nurse, she is truly a decent and caring human being who was so kind enough to shower me with great advice and sensible options on how best to manage my elevated sugar level spike. She is truly an asset to the team and a massive resource for the NHS, this is what the NHS is all about. People like this nurse are the silent heroes within the NHS who deserve our praise and gratitude, we need more people like this.

I would also like to praise the Receptionists amongst the rest of the team who are all so courteous, warm, friendly and ultimately professional. I salute you all, your dedication, commitment, hard work and human element makes such a difference for people like me.

Thank you all for caring and I would highly recommend the surgery, the GP's a gentleman as well.

Take care

Mr AM
