"Ear Syringing"

About: Sheepcot Medical Centre

Over many years I have found the care given to be of a high quality.

I unfortunately suffer from a frequent build up of ear wax which in the past has been dealt with by making an appointment to have my ears syringed at the surgery. This has been necessary as drops and other solutions from the chemist have not removed the wax and after a while the build up becomes uncomfortable and my hearing is severely impaired,

Today I phoned to be told that ear syringing is no longer a service that is offered and I should talk to the chemist. I have searched for private clinics who provide the service but none are local to me.

How do I now get relief from this problem?

We are sorry to hear of the problems you have highlighted. For safety reasons , as a practice we are now supporting the local guidelines adhered to by all NHS Practices in the Watford & 3 Rivers Locality, in relation to ear syringing. The advice you were given would have provided you with an alternative course of treatment other that previously provided via ear syringing. We would encourage you to approach any of the pharmacies local to you, to obtain this advice and further treatment
