What I liked
I attended the A&E dept on Thurs 15th March 2012. I was there from about 7.45pm till 2pm the following day. The approx wait time to be seen was 2 and a half hours. Of course I was willing to wait as I knew I needed treatment but I was seen by a nurse within about 10 mins and then taken through to a Dr about 5 mins after that. I was immediately given pain relief and oxygen and had bloods taken and I felt the Dr listened closely to all I had to say. He explained everything he was going to do and in a relatively short time I had antibiotics and chest x- ray. Through the evening I had further tests and pain relief and a number of nebulisors.
Every single member of staff I came into contact with were professional, efficient and caring. At all times I felt reassured and was made as comfortable as possible. The dept , as expected, was extremely busy but the staff remained focused and always with a good sense of humour. The consultant I saw the next morning has given me more confidence that I will finally get a conclusion to my health problem as countless trips to my GP have so far been less than fruitful.
I would like to thank all the staff who cared for me in such a timely and efficient manner. I have used this dept many times in the past and sat and waited many hours but have always been treated and satisfied before I left. However this time my need was more urgent and I am very grateful for that being recognised and actioned.
What could be improved
nothing.
