"Parking and doors at New Victoria Hospital"

About: New Victoria Hospital (Glasgow)

(as a friend),

I've been using the hospital regularly, and whilst the care has been great, I do have a couple of issues.

The first is with the basement car park - it is very difficult to see where to park as a disabled person. I've had to get out of the car to check whether a space is for disabled parking or not. It should be a lot more clearly marked.

Secondly, why are so few doors in the hospital automatic? I take a friend of mine to hospital who is in a wheelchair - to get him from the front entrance to the clinic means opening three sets of doors, and I have to get help with each one as it is very hard to open a door and push a wheelchair at the same time. It would be very helpful if they opened automatically.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to offer comments on your recent visit to the new Victoria Hospital.

I will pass your comments on to the Facilities staff at the Hospital to see of there are any improvements we can make to the wayfinding around the disabled parking spaces. Similar comments have been made recently about access to the Hospital and the front doors have been changed to allow them to remain open, closing automatically in the event of a fire. I hope that this small change will help in getting in and out of the main entrance.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated; I hope colleagues might also be able to improve the wayfinding issues you have raised.

Paul
